Finding Our Way in a World Lacking Transparency

As we at Holistic Finance understand it, so much of our world today operates in the shadows. Sometimes this is for the better, but other times it can be used as a form of control. We believe that when large companies keep consumers in the dark, their motives can often be derived through protecting company profits, not necessarily the consumer.

That same potential can also live within our investments. A 401k may sound like a worthwhile venture, but how often is the investor given a closer look at which companies they fund and support?

We at Holistic Finance believe that when people consume or invest, voting with your dollar is one of the most crucial ways to make a difference in the world, while also living in alignment with your values. It seems to us, that the more transparent your investments can be, the more likely it is that investors may choose to support more ethically driven companies. Over time, standard large companies may feel more incentive to equally rise to the occasion when they watch where investors choose to place their money. And that's what we're hoping for.

Aside from aligning client values with their investments, we take on a more holistic approach to working within the financial industry. Holistic Finance isn't trying to simply avoid the bad actor companies by advising client investments towards potentially more altruistic ones. We're actively finding conscious companies, knowing that as values based investing spreads, it can encourage larger companies to improve their ethical practices. Typically, large companies are designed to maximize profit, so when their investment dollars drop due to higher demands for more sustainable and ethically inclined companies, they tend to follow suit.

We believe that we need one another, all of us. That we have the potential to rise together in a way that supports the global economy and ensures a more beautiful world for generations to come. We also believe humanity needs to collectively put their money where their heart is.

Understandably, it can be difficult to align your values with your finances. But we think some of the greatest gifts humanity has, is the ability to adapt, change, and do better with the new information we are given. When we are in alignment with our values, this can lead to feelings of greater authenticity. And with authenticity comes a sense of personal power according to this Pubmed study

So not only does aligning your investments with your values make you feel good, but because you are living in your authentic truth, you inevitably feel more powerful by doing so. What this could mean, is that the power that lives within you, has the ability to make a difference, that your authenticity is needed and matters when it comes to values-aligned investing.

It may be hard to believe our actions can have such an impact as individuals. But one drop of water can collectively make up the entire ocean...and water is life. As we come together to invest in the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible, we may also be able to simultaneously align that much closer to an equally beautiful future.

Transparency can be a blessing and change can be good. It's for this reason that we at Holistic Finance would like to encourage you to make a conscious shift away from unaware investments. You can both be and invest in the change you want to see in the world...and Holistic Finance is here to help.
